Manic Depression Test: Verifying The Bipolar Disorder

A manic depression test is conducted to determine the proper treatment that should be administered to a person who is suspected to have the manic-depressive (also termed as “bipolar”) disorder.  People who suffer from this kind of illness should be given proper attention immediately to prevent them from causing harm to other people or to themselves.

The manic depression test consists of various levels of assessment, as it is very important to verify the symptoms first before providing the right cure.  Some symptoms of the bipolar disorder might be thought of as only a mild depression stage, but thorough evaluation should be done to make sure that the other symptoms are not ignored.

This kind of disorder can be manifested through three main stages: the mania episode, the mixed manic-depressive episode, and the depression episode.  These fits generally show themselves when a person is triggered by something from his or her environment, and these can easily be noticed by people who are close to him or her.

Usually, the start of a manic depression test consists of an evaluation of the symptoms of depression that a person has exhibited.  These symptoms include being overly pessimistic about things around him or her, severely paranoid and sorrowful, or feeling empty in an extreme level.  When a person shows these symptoms, it might not easily mean that he is manic-depressive, as it might just be a form of depression.

However, further testing should be done to the patient to find out if he is also having a mania, characterized by an increased level of alertness and vigor.  If a person finds it difficult to focus on one thing, gets overly excited about a particular topic or idea and then shifts to another idea instantly, or becomes overly interested in peculiar matters, then the person might already be experiencing his manic episode.

In some cases, both the manic and depressive episodes are simultaneously exhibited by a person at one point in time.  The person who has the bipolar symptoms might appear utterly excited about a topic but seems to be depressed about it at the same time.  This manic-depressive state could be the symptom that a manic depression test could easily identify, as both the sides of the disorder are directly manifested.

The manic depression test should be conducted as soon as you notice the possible symptoms of the disorder to be able to give it the right treatment.  If you suspect that you or a loved one is suffering from this kind of disorder, it would be best to seek medical attention right away.
